Dr. Nelson grew up in Iowa and attended Northeast Missouri State University for her undergraduate degree. She received a Degree in Podiatry from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed her podiatric surgical residency at the Albuquerque VAMC. After four years of private practice, she and her husband started the first full time podiatry program on the Navajo Reservation in Fort Defiance, Arizona. After 11 years at Navajo, she and her family moved back to the Northwest. She began working for Tulalip in 2008 and serves as the Health Informatics Manager for the Tulalip Tribes.
Dr. Nelson’s passion is the care of elders and diabetes patients. Her care philosophy is early intervention and accessibility helps improve outcomes for her patients.
