Jim Gierman, RN, BSN, CDCES, brings deep expertise in chronic illness management and diabetes education. As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Jim is dedicated to empowering patients with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their health effectively and confidently.
Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle University. His professional approach is shaped not only by clinical experience, but also by his personal journey; he has lived with Type 1 diabetes for more than 40 years. This unique combination of lived experience, compassion, and professional training has allowed Jim to support countless patients.
Before entering nursing, Jim spent several years working as a carpenter, specializing in framing and roofing. He credits this hands-on background with helping him develop strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and a grounded approach to patient care.
Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his son, Jules. Together, they love fishing, camping, and cheering on their favorite teams: Mariners, Huskies football, and Seahawks. Jim also finds great joy in coaching his son’s baseball teams.
