Morgan Peterson is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Morgan graduated from nursing school in 2007 and went on to complete her BSN in 2019. She has worked for the Tulalip Tribes for nearly 12 years, serving as a nurse in the clinic until transitioning to Community Health in 2019. During her time at the Health Clinic, she enjoyed working in acute care and providing education and support to pregnant families. She has a passion for advocacy and health education across the life span.
Community health nursing has provided an opportunity to start a Maternal-Child Health program that includes Indigenous-centered home visiting, advocacy, prenatal & postpartum education, and Doula training. Morgan enjoys serving community elders and assisting with navigating the healthcare system. She believes that prevention programs are so important and can improve outcomes for patients. Morgan enjoys spending time with her family, riding her horses, gardening, hiking, and boating.
